WHO’S AFRAID OF ALICE MILLER?
A film by Daniel Howald
Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes
“A film about the long shadow of war”
Martin is beaten by his father and rejected by his mother — and she looked away. This could be an example from the bestseller “The drama of the gifted child” by psychoanalyst Alice Miller. Just Martin is not an example from a book but Alice Millers son.
Now ten years after Alice Millers death her son, the psychotherapist Martin Miller embarks on a journey to look for answers. Gradually Martin uncovers what stood between him and his mother. As a young Jew, Alice Miller assumed a false identity to survive amidst the Nazis in Warsaw. And the deeper Martin digs into the past of his parents the more rises the question, what secret role his father played during the war?
